In this role you will manage the receipt of materials and the shipment and delivery of products, ensuring timely and safe transportation. Utility Metals, our rapidly growing lighting poles division, is seeking a Logistics Supervisor to ensure efficient transportation, storage, and delivery of goods. In this role you will manage the receipt of materials and the shipment and delivery of products, ensuring timely and safe transportation. You will coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and production staff in a manufacturing setting to facilitate smooth operations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure proper and safe material handling, loading/unloading, packaging, and stacking of raw material and finished goods.
- Supervise logistics staff, including drivers and production associates, providing training and support to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Oversee floor shipping preparation, pole and hardware packaging, labeling, paperwork management, order completeness, and truck loading activities.
- Oversee the receiving process and receipt accuracy vs. PO completeness. Ensure items received are properly stored in their location and put in inventory.
- Prepare and study shipping orders, bill of ladings and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet deadlines
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to logistics operations, ensuring that all parties involved in the supply chain work collaboratively to meet customer needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field. Equivalent experience vs. degree completion will be considered.
- 3 years of experience in logistics or transportation, ideally in a supervisory role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for coordinating with various stakeholders and managing a team.
- The ability to multitask and manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30-hour training completed – dock safety focus
- Lifting and rigging safely for loading / unloading
- RCRA hazardous waste training
