Position Summary
The Logistics Lead oversees daily logistics and outbound shipping operations to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely movement of products. This role coordinates team activities, manages carrier relationships, monitors freight processes, and ensures compliance with company standards. The Logistics Lead serves as the primary contact for shipping carriers, internal departments, and warehouse staff regarding outbound shipments and return shipments.
Key ResponsibilitiesLogistics & Shipping Operations
- Lead daily logistics workflows including order picking, packing, staging, and outbound shipment coordination.
- Ensure all outgoing shipments meet accuracy, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Verify freight details, shipping documents, and customer-specific requirements.
- Process shipments using company systems and carrier platforms (e.g., UPS and LTL portals).
Team Leadership
- Assign daily responsibilities to the logistics and shipping team.
- Train staff on logistics processes, equipment use, and safety procedures.
- Monitor performance and provide coaching or feedback as needed.
- Foster a positive and productive team environment.
Inventory & Quality Control
- Perform daily vault counts to ensure accurate inventory levels are reported to Production, Operations and Sales teams.
- Ensure proper product rotation, staging, and material handling practices.
- Conduct final quality checks on outbound shipments.
Communication & Coordination
- Act as the primary point of contact for carriers, and freight partners.
- Communicate order or shipment issues promptly to Operations, Sales, and/or Production.
- Provide daily logistics updates, shipment counts, and issue escalations to management.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized logistics and shipping area.
- Identify and correct safety concerns, promoting a safe work environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
- Excellent team leadership and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
- Basic reporting and data management skills using Excel or Google Sheets.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of logistics, warehouse, or distribution experience
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or high-volume shipping/logistics.
- Strong understanding of shipping carriers, freight quoting, and logistics documentation.
- Experience with Zoho, or UPS Ship Station.
- Basic reporting and data management skills using Excel or Google Sheets.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced warehouse and logistics environment with exposure to variable temperatures.
- Frequent walking, bending, lifting, and equipment operation required.
