THE ROLE
As an Overhead Crane Service Technician – Apprentice, you will be working in the field assisting with the installation, repair, inspection, and preventative maintenance of overhead cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment. This is a great permanent opportunity for someone who has a strong electrical and mechanical background and is looking to build a long-term career in the overhead crane industry.
You will work alongside an experienced service team while developing your technical skills through hands-on field experience. This role is ideal for someone who is technically inclined, eager to learn, and enjoys troubleshooting and hands-on work in a manufacturing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with troubleshooting and inspecting equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
- Work within a team environment to accomplish service and maintenance goals
- Assist with inspections of hoists, cranes, systems, chain falls, and pullers
- Assist with ordering parts and maintaining inventory
- Complete maintenance reports and documentation
- Assist with crane inspections, repairs, installations, and breakdown calls
- Adjust equipment and assist with repairing or replacing defective parts
- Assist with preventative maintenance on overhead cranes and material handling equipment
- Follow safe working practices and company safety procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on electrical experience
- Secondary school diploma or high school equivalent as a minimum
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Technically inclined with an interest in troubleshooting and repair
- Knowledge and understanding of structural, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Welding experience is considered an asset
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent people and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to work in elevated areas
- Eager to learn and develop technical skills
- Available to work overtime as required
- Must have reliable own transportation
- Valid driver's license in good standing
