This role communicates pre-operative instructions to patients and works closely with clinical staff to support an efficient scheduling process and positive patient experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Keep a log of all the procedures for each patient having surgery for pre-cert purposes.
- Verify benefits for all procedures. Check if prior authorization is needed.
- Track status on surgical pre-cert, auths, and predetermination weekly. Call patients to keep them
- Updated with the progress of insurance activity.
- When auth is obtained, scan paperwork in the Auth folder. Call patient to schedule.
- Call hospital to confirm date and time are available
- Send orders, insurance information, H&P, and clinicals
- Work up estimates to give to patients. Stress that it’s only an estimate. Quote cash fees.
- Discuss sedation; anesthesia-review protocol and health questionnaire to rule out the need for
- Clearance from PCP.
- Schedule 1st post-op visits at the same time you schedule the surgery.
- Discuss they must have a driver to take them home and must come in to sign form.
- Other Duties as assigned.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent

- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
- Manual dexterity required for operating office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, fax machines).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Visual acuity is required to perform tasks involving computer screens and paper documents.
- Ability to move around the office to access files, office machinery, and other equipment.
