Summary:
Stretch Forming Corporation, an international leader in aerospace forming, machining and assembly, is seeking candidates that are passionate about their personal growth while contributing to the growth of our company. The Stretch Form Machine Operator will hold primary responsibility for efficiently operating various large and small, conventional and stretch, forming machines to manufacture sheet metal and extruded aerospace parts in accordance with customer engineering requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all safety, quality and production standards while incorporating industry best practices related to aerospace manufacturing and operations.
Position Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Set up and run forming machines such as shear, roller, brake press, vertical and horizontal stretch forming machines.
- Sets and adjusts controls, pumps, guides, and switches to regulate speed, pressure, heat, thickness, clearance, hardness, or other forming variables.
- Observes machine operation and adjusts controls to correct forming imperfections and attain specified dimensions and shape.
- Stops motor and shuts down machine to change setup, repair malfunctions, and remove clogs or finished work piece.
- Inspects and measures completed piece to verify conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments and templates.
- Traces or positions layout lines on work piece, using compass or template.
- Reads and reviews work order and blueprints to determine machine setup, sequences of operations, and specifications.
- Preheats or anneals work piece using hand torch or heating furnace.
- Tempers, trims, finishes, shapes, or aligns piece using hand tools and hand-held power tools.
- Directs other workers in activities such as changing rolls, regulating speed of conveyors, or positioning work piece.
- Cleans and lubricates machines and work pieces.
- Records production and inspection information such as date, materials used, and number of pieces completed.
- Measure and verify key features on all work performed.
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures.
- Maintain equipment by following daily maintenance checklist.
- Document daily actions by completing production log and input into company ERP system.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Participates in special projects as required.
- Support the non-conformance and corrective action process, tracking and driving completion on non-conformities and corrective actions
- Keeps work area clean, organized and free of any safety hazards.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in forming of aerospace parts.
- Ability to speak, read & write in English
- Experienced in using shop inspection tools.
- Ability to log on to company computer systems for minimal data input.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Able to read and comprehend detailed mechanical drawings and sketches.
- Able to conduct basic math calculations.
- Able to follow instruction, question what you don’t understand and to not proceed until there is full understanding.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (Constant)
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and move or carry objects of varying sizes and shapes (Occasional)
- Required to stand, bend or twist for extended periods.
