About The Internship

As a Learning & Development Intern, you’ll gain hands on experience supporting the design, development, and delivery of training programs that impact teams across the organization. You’ll collaborate with experienced L&D professionals, engineers, and subject matter experts to translate complex technical knowledge into engaging, learner friendly experiences.

This internship is ideal for students interested in training, instructional design, adult learning, or organizational development, and who want practical experience in a fast paced, technically advanced environment.

A Day in the Life

Each day is dynamic, collaborative, and hands on. You may start by checking in with your mentor to align on priorities, then meet with engineers or subject matter experts to gather insights for new learning content. Throughout the day, you’ll support the creation of training materials, assist with LMS reporting, help record or edit training media, and apply instructional design principles to real projects.

You’ll spend meaningful time translating highly technical information into clear, engaging learning materials—and end the day knowing your work directly supports employee growth across the organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with the Training Program Director, subject matter experts, and business leaders to support learning initiatives
  • Assist in designing and developing instructor led training, eLearning, video, microlearning, or blended learning solutions
  • Help conduct basic training needs assessments through interviews, surveys, and data review
  • Support evaluation of training effectiveness using feedback, assessments, and learning metrics
  • Maintain and update learning content in the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Pull completion reports, learner analytics, and compliance data from the LMS
  • Assist with audio recording and light editing for training modules
  • Apply instructional design principles (such as ADDIE) and adult learning theory
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, learner friendly language
  • Help ensure training materials align with company standards, safety requirements, and business goals

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or certification in Instructional Design, Education, Training & Development, Technical Communication, Organizational Learning, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in adult learning theory and instructional design principles
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with learning technologies such as LMS platforms or eLearning tools is a plus
  • Detail oriented, organized, and eager to learn
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment
  • Experience with tools such as Articulate, Captivate, video editing software, or multimedia authoring tools is helpful, but not required

A portfolio or samples of coursework, eLearning, or training materials are a plus—academic projects are welcome.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to climb and descend at least one flight of stairs multiple times per day
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds

Why Intern at SES?

  • Real world experience on impactful, high visibility projects
  • Mentorship from experienced L&D and engineering professionals
  • Exposure to technical learning in a high performance engineering environment
  • Development of highly marketable skills in learning & development
  • A culture built on trust, collaboration, curiosity, and continuous improvement
