About the Position

StreetSquash is seeking a Manager of Social Work to lead high-quality social-emotional and clinical support for youth and families. This role is ideal for a clinician who is passionate about adolescent development and ready to take on both direct practice and team leadership in a dynamic, community-based environment.

The Manager of Social Work will oversee social-emotional learning (SEL) programming, supervise one full-time staff and interns, and provide direct support to students and families. This position plays a critical role in ensuring participants are equipped with the emotional, behavioral, and relational supports needed to succeed academically and personally.

This role reports to the Chief Program Officer and requires regular on-site presence during after-school programming hours, with occasional evenings and weekends for special events.

This role offers the opportunity to take on a highly impactful leadership position within the Social Work department, with significant responsibility for shaping clinical supports, staff development, and social-emotional programming for young people and families. For candidates pursuing LCSW licensure, StreetSquash is open to providing clinical supervision opportunities and supporting the accumulation of applicable hours toward licensure, where aligned with role responsibilities and program needs.


Position Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Direct Service

  • Provide direct clinical support to students and families, including individual counseling, group facilitation, crisis intervention, case management, and family engagement.
  • Design and facilitate social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum and enrichment programming.
  • Partner with staff to develop, implement, and monitor student support plans and action steps.
  • Maintain strong relationships with students, families, schools, and external providers to ensure holistic support.
  • Lead and support Family Leadership Board initiatives, including meetings and engagement activities.
  • Maintain consistent communication with staff regarding student progress, needs, and interventions.

Team Management & Supervision

  • Supervise and support a team of 1 full-time Social Worker and MSW/BSW interns.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development to staff and interns.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, evaluations, and performance management in collaboration with the Chief Program Officer and Clinical Supervisor.
  • Lead team meetings and contribute to a strong, collaborative, and accountable team culture.
  • Oversee clinical training for interns, including intake processes and foundational skill development.

Program Strategy & External Partnerships

  • Partner with the Chief Program Officer to oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of social-emotional and wellness programming.
  • Support participant recruitment and retention efforts to ensure strong engagement and consistent attendance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners to strengthen referral pathways and wraparound services for students and families.

Data, Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure accurate documentation and use of data systems to track student progress and program outcomes.
  • Analyze trends related to student engagement, persistence, and success to inform program improvements.
  • Collaborate with leadership and HR to ensure compliance with documentation and reporting standards.
  • Support oversight of the Social Work budget in collaboration with the Chief Program Officer.


A Day in the Life

No two days look the same in this role. You might facilitate a group session, provide one-on-one counseling support, meet with a family or school partner, and collaborate with staff on student support plans—all while supervising interns and ensuring high-quality programming across your team.


Qualifications


Requirements

  • LMSW (New York State) required; LCSW strongly preferred
  • 3 years of experience providing clinical services to youth and adolescents
  • 2 years of supervisory or management experience
  • Experience working with families and caregivers in a meaningful, ongoing capacity
  • Strong understanding of youth development and trauma-informed practice

Preferred

  • Familiarity with NYC public schools, transfer schools, and special education systems
  • Experience in community-based or after-school settings
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills a plus

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $72,000–$82,000

StreetSquash offers competitive compensation based on experience. The full benefits package includes:

  • 15 days of paid vacation, plus a 5-day holiday break between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day
  • Vacation increases to 20 days annually after 2 years of employment
  • 40 hours of sick time
  • 3 personal days (after the first 90 days of employment), increasing to 4 days after 1 year and 5 days after 2 years of employment
  • 401(k) with up to a 4% employer match (after 90 days of employment)
