Job description:
We are seeking to fill Seasonal Evening positions. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK SATURDAY & SUNDAY
The primary task of the Clean Team is to complete tasks that are structured to keep the
district clean. Clean Team members are responsible for providing a visible presence within
the boundaries of the District. Clean Team members are instrumental in reporting conditions adversely affecting the District and taking action to correct conditions observed. They are instrumental in completing cleaning tasks that improve the overall appearance of the District. Clean Team members are expected to engage pedestrians and provide information, directions, and assistance to downtown residents, workers and visitors.
Cleaning the District is accomplished through a mixture of productivity enhancing equipment and manual labor. Clean Team members provide litter collection and removal, weed abatement, graffiti removal, minor pressure washing, minor landscaping, special projects to include painting, and hospitality services. Another duty relates to observing and reporting“ quality of life” infractions and other criminal activity to law enforcement.
Clean Team members may operate mechanical equipment, to include pressure washing unit, sidewalk sweepers, vehicles, and electric utility vehicles, golf carts, and Tennant ATLV
vacuum units.
Clean Team members will be cross-trained on basic tasks associated with hospitality services.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITES
The following are some of the key duties and responsibilities.
▪ Provide a visible presence, while wearing the authorized uniform,
within the boundaries of the district and within assigned Zone.
▪ Collect and remove litter and other debris on the sidewalks and curb lines.
▪ Clean odorous areas, including areas with public urination, defecation
and vomit using the power washer or other equipment.
▪ Operate mechanical productivity enhancing equipment used to collect litter, sweep
and/or scrub sidewalk surfaces, remove weeds and other equipment deemed
necessary.
▪ Remove graffiti, to include paint, posters, stickers, handbills, and
other types of graffiti, by scrapping, painting or using chemicals.
▪ Remove weeds and other unsightly vegetation by spraying “green friendly”
chemicals, pulling, or using landscaping equipment.
▪ Work on special assignments, to include pressure washing, painting, scrubbing and
other tasks deemed necessary to improve the outward appearance of the district.
▪ Minor landscaping duties, such as weeding, mulching, flower planting and watering,
and maintaining flowers and plants throughout the district (if the district has planting
program).
▪ Reporting suspicious and criminal behavior and activity.
▪ Offer general information and friendly assistance to pedestrians
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
The following physical and mental requirements are required.
▪ Participate and pass basic first aid and CPR training.
▪ Operate mechanical equipment.
▪ Lift 25 pounds of trash or other material and dump into trash can or bed of truck.
▪ Work outdoors and effectively carry out duties in extreme heat or cold
conditions with variations in weather.
▪ Sit, stand, and walk for extended period of time and walk several miles during a shift, usually eight hours.
▪ Follow instructions and retain information.
▪ Speak clearly and communicate effectively.
▪ Exercise self-control when dealing with distraught, disturbed, disabled,
irate, and intoxicated individuals.
▪ Make sound decisions and use good judgment.
▪ Handle stressful situations in a reasonable manner.
▪ Remain alert and vigilant to detect and respond to situations, as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
The following knowledge, skills, education and licenses are critical for the success of
the position.
▪ At least two years of verifiable experience in janitorial or landscaping industry.
▪ Proficient with computers and software, to include Microsoft Office
products and Smart Phones (cellular telephones).
▪ Ability to learn and use electronic work order software platform.
▪ Possess a valid state driver’s license is preferred.
▪ Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
All Successful Candidates will be assigned to the Washington DC Account.
