Responsibilities
- Assist with animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health status.
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques to minimize stress and injury.
- Support veterinary staff with medication administration, sample collection, and basic procedures such as catheterization.
- Maintain accurate records of animal treatments, behaviors, and medical histories in compliance with clinic protocols.
- Prepare animals for examinations or surgeries by ensuring proper positioning and aseptic techniques.
- Support front desk duties such as scheduling appointments and managing client communications when needed.
- Assist with laboratory procedures including sample processing and basic diagnostic tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
Requirements
- Previous kennel experience or animal handling background preferred; strong animal husbandry skills are essential.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and laboratory techniques is highly desirable.
- Experience with pet care, dog handling, equine care or veterinary clinic operations is a plus.
- Ability to perform animal restraint safely across various species including dogs, cats, and horses.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and aseptic techniques required for clinical procedures.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinary teams and support staff.
- Must be detail-oriented with the ability to follow precise instructions for medical procedures and record keeping.
