The Opportunity
My client, a publicly traded diversified energy company, is looking to add an In-House Attorney/Associate Counsel to join their team in Buffalo, NY. This is a hybrid role, 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. The role offers a highly competitive compensation package, including base salary, annual bonus program and a comprehensive benefits package.
Responsibilities
The In-House Attorney/Associate Counsel is an important part of the legal and compliance function of the organization. Responsibilities include:
- Autonomy and individual responsibility to support several functional business units across a variety of areas in the company
- Draft, review and negotiate agreements
- Support ongoing and new regulatory compliance programs and initiatives
- Support of the company’s acquisition and expansion activity
- Manage use of outside counsel, as necessary
- Provide general support as requested by General Counsel
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be an accomplished professional with at least 3 years of corporate law, either in the law firm setting or in the public sector, plus:
- Juris Doctor Degree
- Minimum of 3 years of legal experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply
- License to practice in New York and ability/willingness to waive into practice in Ohio; or preparing to sit for bar exam
- Law review, law journals, judicial internships, moot court and other extracurricular activities
- Strong analytical, writing, and negotiation skills
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to work with a variety of business units and stakeholders
At this time, the good faith estimate of the annual base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $115,000, plus annual bonus potential and a comprehensive benefits package. Where a successful applicant is slotted within this range will vary based on legitimate criteria, such as professional experience, licensures, industry specific experience and education level.
