What are the responsibilities and job description for the Investment Banking Executive Director / Managing Director position at Stratosphere Capital LLC?
Job Description
[About Us]
We are a start-up U.S. broker-dealer firm licensed with FINRA/SIPC/Nasdaq. Our specialties include Investment Banking, Equity Sales, and Research. Our senior executives come from reputable bulge bracket firms and bring 45 years of combined Wall Street experience.
[Role – Investment Banking ED/MD]
We are seeking an experienced Investment Banking professional at the Executive Director / Managing Director level to join our New York-based IBD team.
This is a front-office investment banking role, not a middle-office or back-office position. The candidate will work closely with senior management and partner directly with the IBD team on business development, client coverage, deal origination, and transaction execution.
This role is ideal for a senior banker who is entrepreneurial, commercially driven, and interested in helping build a growing broker-dealer platform from an early stage.
[Responsibilities]
- Partner with senior management and the IBD team to develop and expand the firm’s investment banking business.
- Lead or support deal origination, client coverage, pitch preparation, and transaction execution.
- Source, evaluate, and execute corporate finance transactions, including IPOs, follow-ons, private placements, and other capital markets transactions.
- Maintain and develop relationships with corporate clients, investors, intermediaries, and other Wall Street counterparties.
- Work across the full transaction lifecycle, including client onboarding, due diligence, valuation, marketing, syndication, roadshows, execution, and closing.
- Contribute to building a clean-cut, scalable, and compliant investment banking business model for the firm.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to support the long-term growth of the BD platform.
[Requirements]
- Minimum of 7–10 years of relevant front-office investment banking experience.
- Prior experience at the ED, MD, Director, or senior VP level preferred.
- Strong track record in deal origination and/or execution, particularly in equity capital markets, IPOs, follow-ons, private placements, or related corporate finance transactions.
- Existing client relationships, investor relationships, or deal-sourcing capabilities are strongly preferred.
- FINRA Series 7, 63, and 79 licenses preferred, or willingness and ability to obtain required licenses.
- Strong commercial judgment, execution capability, and ability to work independently in a start-up environment.
- Reliable, accountable, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working closely with senior leadership.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in English required; Mandarin and/or Cantonese Chinese strongly preferred.
- Ideally eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
[Perspectives]
- Unique opportunity to take a senior front-office role in building a growing Wall Street broker-dealer platform.
- Direct access to senior management and meaningful involvement in the firm’s IBD strategy and execution.
- Opportunity to build a visible track record across origination, execution, and platform development.
- Entrepreneurial environment with significant room for career growth and business ownership.
