What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aircraft Mechanic II position at Strategic Support Solutions?

Join the DTG Aviation team in a mission-critical role supporting the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City. As an Aircraft Mechanic, you will be responsible for the airworthiness and safety of the fleet, ensuring that these life-saving rotorcraft are ready for flight at a moment’s notice.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Repair: Perform complex maintenance on primary, secondary, and tertiary aircraft structures, airframes, and substructures.

  • Specialized Systems: Execute structural, sheet metal, and composite modifications and repairs.

  • Precision Work: Utilize specialized tools including torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, and composite repair equipment.

  • Technical Research: Navigate USCG data systems—such as ALMIS and ATIP—to research maintenance history, procedures, and component limitations.

  • Logistics & Documentation: Initiate requisitions for parts and manage technical publications, proposing updates to manuals when discrepancies are identified.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License.

  • Experience: * Minimum of five (5) years as a licensed A&P mechanic.

    • At least three (3) years of experience working on rotorcraft (H-65 or similar preferred).

  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of corrosion control (treatments, coatings, and compounds), aircraft structural repair, and composite materials.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ability to read and apply technical orders, blueprints, and OEM manuals.

Physical Requirements & Environment

  • Maneuverability: Ability to work in cramped or strained positions, climb scaffolding/ladders, and stand for prolonged periods.

  • Lifting: Frequently lift up to 20 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs with assistance.

  • Safety: Capability to work with regulated/toxic materials (including hexavalent chromium and cadmium) while strictly adhering to PPE and hazardous waste protocols.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Security: Must be able to pass a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) background check.
