Role Overview
Champions, organizes, and partners with diverse teams in Distribution Operations and Fossil Generation to ensure system security and continuity of service are maintained in a safe manner on the client electric system. This role ensures productivity is maintained through safe and concise operating orders and actions during normal and complex trouble situations.
Key Accountabilities
- Directs and coordinates teams to resolve conflicts and interpret rules to support the operation of the electrical system and develop a long-term shutdown schedule
- Organizes cross-functional teams to address unique, complex or recurring issues affecting efficient operation.
- Develops and suggests work instructions and restoration plans for both planned and emergent work on the electrical system.
- Identifies work bundling opportunities at an asset level and develops a coordinated work plan to ensure shutdowns are planned, assessing risks to the electrical system.
- Works closely with system study engineer and project scheduler to ensure accuracy of long-term shutdown schedule.
- Works closely with PMO and DO Scheduling to review project timelines and work coordination.
- Organizes and leads huddle and shutdown schedule review meetings.
- Organizes and leads cross-function team meetings especially for complex and back-to-back shutdowns in the same area/regions.
- Champions continuous improvement (CI) initiatives focused on shutdown optimization and coordination of resources.
- Reviews contingency plans for complex projects.
Minimum Experience Requirements
- Seven to Ten years of operational experience with advanced knowledge of electric generation, transmission, and distribution systems including:Advanced knowledge of installation, operation, and/or maintenance of high voltage electrical equipment used in electric utility substations.
- Advanced knowledge of installation, operation, and/or maintenance of electrical equipment used on overhead and underground electric utility systems.
- Experience as either a System Operator, Power Dispatcher, or electric utility electrical equipment operator.
Other Qualifications Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or electric utility electrical worker trade certification.
- Ten years of experience as either a System Operator, Power Dispatcher, or physically operating electrical equipment to administer lockout tagout practices; including five years of experience supervising system operators, power dispatchers, or qualified electrical workers who operate electrical equipment and workforce represented by a labor union.
- Six Sigma Yellow, Green, or Blackbelt certification.
- NERC BI, BIT or RC Operator certification.
- Knowledge of project scheduling tools such as Primavera, Excel, etc.
