Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Business Analyst to support strategic projects within our Middle Office, Derivatives Operations, and Collateral Management spaces. This role requires someone who can transform complex ideas into clear visual representations, facilitate and lead discussions with both technical and business teams, and ensure that all project requirements are carefully analyzed and executed. You will play a critical role in delivering technology solutions in a fast-paced, iterative environment, working closely with stakeholders across various teams to drive successful change execution.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Requirements Gathering & Solution Framing:

    • Lead discussions across multiple teams (e.g., front-to-back offices, technology, operations) to understand full project requirements and desired solutions.
    • Translate complex, technical requirements into clear, visual decks and documentation to ensure alignment across all stakeholders.
    • Use strategic thinking to guide conversations, ask the right questions, and drive clarity in defining solutions.
    • Ensure all logical paths are explored, identifying any potential disconnects early in the process to avoid issues in execution.

  • Agile & Iterative Delivery:

    • Foster an agile mindset within the team by supporting iterative and frequent delivery cycles, helping to align teams on goals and progress.
    • Continuously look for opportunities to make processes more efficient and ensure ongoing improvement.
    • Coordinate with users to create comprehensive test strategies, ensuring that test cases cover all scenarios, including negative test cases.
    • Actively contribute to discussions around test case execution, identifying gaps and potential risks in testing methodology.

  • Testing Coordination & Status Reporting:

    • Ensure that testing is coordinated effectively, thoughtfully, and strategically. Ensure that test cases reflect all required scenarios and thoroughly vet solutions before release.
    • When issues arise post-release, lead the investigation by asking, "Was this seen in testing?" and help improve the testing process for future releases.
    • Act as a conduit for clear, timely status reporting, delivering relevant updates in a format tailored to the audience especially executives and senior leadership.
    • Provide clear and concise level statements to keep stakeholders informed of progress, issues, and solutions.

  • Middle Office & Collateral Management Focus:

    • Support projects related to middle office operations, collateral management, and derivatives operations, including optimization initiatives, new memberships at clearing houses, corrective actions, and other projects tied to business lines.
    • Work collaboratively with various teams to deliver initiatives focused on middle office clearing and collateral management, while navigating the complexity of the capital markets environment.

  • Collaboration & Communication:

    • Actively engage with internal stakeholders across the organization, including business users, technology teams, operations, and SMEs, to gather feedback and ensure solutions align with business needs.
    • Facilitate discussions and drive decision-making by framing problems, offering insights, and challenging assumptions.
    • Communicate effectively with executive leadership, ensuring that complex topics are boiled down to digestible information and updates.


Key Skills & Qualifications:


  • Experience:

    • 5 years of experience in capital markets, middle office operations, or collateral management, with a focus on technology change execution.
    • Familiarity with the full trade lifecycle and a solid understanding of what happens to a trade post-execution.
    • Strong background in requirements gathering and business analysis, ideally with some experience leading project delivery in a technology-focused environment.
    • Prior experience supporting collateral management, derivatives operations, or related functions is a plus.

  • Technical & Analytical Skills:

    • Experience with tools like Jira and Confluence for project management and collaboration.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting; ability to create and maintain complex spreadsheets.
    • Strong presentation skills, including the ability to create clear, visually engaging decks for stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
    • While hands-on SQL is not required, familiarity with it is a plus and will help in understanding the logical structure of business processes.

  • Testing & Methodology:

    • Ability to develop comprehensive test strategies, and ensure testing is thorough, well-documented, and covers all possible scenarios (including negative cases).
    • Active involvement in testing discussions, guiding teams to consider edge cases and ensure full coverage of business requirements.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong leadership abilities be the voice of reason in discussions, framing problems and solutions clearly.
    • Excellent communication skills, especially with executive leadership, ensuring that all information is appropriately framed for different audiences.
    • A methodical and inquisitive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to lead conversations and ensure thorough exploration of all solutions.
    • Agile mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and iteration.

  • Desired Personal Attributes:

    • Highly motivated and engaged; not just clocking in but actively driving the success of the project and the team.
    • Able to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics and act as a facilitator between technology and business teams.
    • Comfortable with ambiguity and quick to take action in a fast-moving, change-driven environment.


Preferred Background:


  • Experience working in a capital markets or financial services environment (even in a non-leadership role like SME or user) and a strong desire to transition into a business analyst/project delivery role.
  • Familiarity with clearing house membership, treasury clearing, and collateral management processes would be beneficial.
