What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Corporate Counsel position at Strategic Employment Partners (SEP)?
We are working with a growing technology company in Irvine that is looking to add a Senior Corporate Counsel to take ownership of the commercial and corporate legal workload as the company scales. This person will sit inside a small, high-functioning legal team and work directly with leadership across product, finance, and marketing on deals and agreements that touch the core of how the business operates.
Desired Skills
- 7 years of experience with a background that includes time in-house at a technology or software company. Some law firm experience early in a career is fine, but candidates who have never moved beyond the law firm environment and into a true counsel role will not be a strong fit
- Hands-on experience negotiating and closing vendor contracts, SaaS agreements, marketing and influencer agreements, licensing arrangements, and strategic partnerships, with the ability to think through business risk rather than just legal risk
- Active daily use of AI tools in legal work. The team has fully adopted AI into their workflow and this is a baseline expectation, not a nice to have
- Experience mentoring junior legal staff and the ability to take ownership of the in-house counsel function with a clear path to grow into a leadership role over time
This is a hybrid role based in Irvine. It include full benefits, performance bonus and 6% 401K employer match.
Salary : $170,000 - $200,000
