What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Manager position at Strategic Employment Partners (SEP)?
A well-established and fast-growing commercial contractor is looking for an Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations and grow with the business.
The company operates multiple service and construction divisions, each with its own P&L, and serves commercial clients including property managers, home builders, and general contractors across the state.
What you will own:
- Monthly close process in partnership with other finance leadership: journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules
- General ledger maintenance and account coding
- Supervision of a small accounting team (AP, AR, and purchasing)
- Daily treasury management including line of credit activity
- Sales and use tax compliance across Colorado jurisdictions
- Job costing accuracy and coordination with operations
- Financial and variance reporting for division managers
What you need to bring:
- Experience in construction, landscaping, or a comparable field-service trade environment
- Hands-on job costing experience: WIP, job costing, variance analysis
- Working knowledge of Colorado sales and use tax, specifically use tax calculation across multiple jurisdictions
- Solid understanding of revenue recognition concepts, ASC 606
- Month-end close and general ledger ownership
- Experience in an accounting manager, lead, or supervisor role
Nice to have:
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
- Experience with landscape management or field-service ERP software such as Aspire
- Background at companies in the $15M-$100M range where accounting wore multiple hats
Salary : $85,000 - $110,000
