The PME (Process Manufacturing Engineer) group supports this goal with technical expertise in manufacturing, process, materials and applications experience across all Additive Manufacturing Technology offerings.

As a
Manufacturing Engineer II
, you will play a key role in advancing our additive manufacturing processes and contributing to documentation and control of procedures to meet the standards and requirements of aerospace, automotive and medical device industry customers. Leveraging your expertise in manufacturing and one or more specific verticals, you will work closely with the engineering team to optimize processes, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the successful execution of advanced 3D printing production.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Interpret industry specifications, customer's engineering requirements and material/process specifications to assess risk, negotiate requirements, ensure compliance and deliver innovative solutions; manage machine qualifications and author process control documentation
  • Author and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation, training team members on evolving processes
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and troubleshoot process issues through root cause and corrective actions
  • Optimize additive manufacturing processes using Six Sigma tools, Lean principles, and Kaizen culture
  • Design manufacturing aids and fixtures with clear usage guidelines to improve production efficiency
  • Serve as SME for AM technologies (SAF, SLS, MJF), advising customers and internal teams on capabilities and limitations
  • Collect and analyze manufacturing data to provide actionable insights that inform leadership to make strategic decisions
  • Create technical content, white papers, and webinars showcasing Stratasys Direct's capabilities
  • Support new product integration by scoping, executing, and reporting on material characterization, process development, product commercialization projects
  • Conduct technical due diligence and ROI analysis for emerging AM technologies and processes
  • Interface with suppliers and customers to assess risk, negotiate requirements, and deliver innovative AM solutions

Must Have For This Role
As a part of Stratasys, this position requires access to information and/or technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (or, green card holder), a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years' combined experience in engineering and/or manufacturing operations
  • Understanding of mechanical testing methods and equipment. Understanding of mechanical properties of materials
  • Experience designing complex 3D parts, basic assemblies, interrogating and manipulating parts in CAD in CAD. Basic ability to interpret GD&T found on engineering drawings and Model Based Definitions
  • Experience in authoring Process Control Documents/Plans (PCD's), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/ Work Instructions (WI's), Work Order/Traveler. Experience in scoping Non-Recurring Engineer (NRE) efforts
  • Understanding of key criteria and requirements of aerospace, medical device, and/or automotive industries
  • Experience applying Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma principles
  • Demonstrated ability to apply basic statistics, examples of leveraging a Design of Experiments (DOE), and knowledge of basic principles of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Proficient with MS Office, formula-use in Excel; as well as with recording and plotting data with Excel. Awareness of Pivot Table
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, structured problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Excellent personal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong foundational knowledge of manufacturing processes, manufacturing equipment, and quality inspection techniques
  • Ability to work well with others

Nice To Have

  • Knowledge of and hands on experience with 3D Printing/ Additive Manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Experience with Additive Manufacturing industry-specific regulatory specifications and standards
  • Knowledge of and experience addressing requirements of FAIR, PPAP, IQ-OQ-PQ's, GR&R's, and capabilities studies.
  • A demonstrated track record of process optimization and new process development for manufacturing in additive or conventional manufacturing
  • Experience with ROI studies, creation of business cases
  • Experience in operating and maintaining manufacturing equipment
  • Experience implementing Design of Experiments (DOE), and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Data Querying and Analysis is with advanced Excel, SQL, and/or Python
