About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Operations Supervisor to lead a team responsible for high-volume accounting and financial operations.

This is a hands-on people leadership role for someone who can manage day-to-day workflow, coach and develop employees, maintain operational accuracy, support month-end activities, and improve processes within a controlled financial environment.

The position will initially be offered as a 6-month contract, with the opportunity to convert to a full-time role based on business requirements and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and support a team of approximately 10–12 accounting operations professionals.
• Assign and review work, manage priorities, and monitor team productivity and performance.
• Set clear operational expectations, goals and weekly deliverables.
• Provide coaching, feedback and development support to team members.
• Serve as a subject matter resource and escalation point for operational questions and complex issues.
• Support high-volume accounting activities, including month-end requirements.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate execution.
• Communicate and reinforce accounting policies, procedures and operating standards.
• Identify workflow inefficiencies, control issues and operational bottlenecks.
• Implement process improvements that strengthen accuracy, productivity and the overall control environment.
• Analyze operational issues, evaluate broader business impacts and implement practical solutions.
• Collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders across different locations and, where applicable, international teams.

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of professional experience in accounting, finance operations or a related financial operations environment.
• Prior people-management or supervisory experience within accounting operations, finance operations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, shared services or another transaction-processing environment.
• Demonstrated experience assigning and reviewing work, managing team priorities and monitoring operational performance.
• Experience working in a high-volume accounting or financial operations environment.
• Exposure to month-end accounting activities.
• Strong problem-solving and process-improvement capability.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to explain policies, procedures and operational requirements clearly.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and recurring deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
• Experience supervising a team of approximately 10–12 employees.
• Experience within a large, process-driven or controlled financial operations environment.
• Experience improving accounting workflows, controls or operating procedures.
• Experience collaborating with distributed or global teams.

Important Requirements

This position requires periodic onsite attendance in Urbandale, Iowa. Candidates should already live within a practical commuting distance of the Des Moines–Urbandale area.
