Probate Litigation AssistantOverall Purpose:The Probate Litigation Assistant will work closely with, and under the immediate direction of the Litigation Resource Manager, litigation attorneys, and others as assigned. The Probate Litigation Assistant provides administrative and litigation support to attorneys handling probate litigation and trust and estate disputes, as well as general litigation. This role is responsible for assisting with case management, document preparation, court filings, calendaring, discovery support and communication with clients, courts, and third parties. Personal characteristics that will contribute to the success in this position are a strong work ethic, detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This is an in-person position.Essential Job Duties include, but are not limited to:Assistant to Litigation DepartmentPerform general case management of civil litigation and probate litigation mattersPrepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, petitions, complaints, legal memorandaE-file court documents (and paper-file when required)Identify and submit legal documents for docketing, court and case deadlines using firm softwareManagement of ongoing assigned court and case deadlinesAssist attorneys with reviewing, organizing, and summarizing case materials, mail, and other case related documentsAssist in preparation of matrices, charts, and spreadsheets as neededCreate, revise, and proofread documents with high accuracyAssist with arbitration and trial preparationKeep accurate time records for billable tasksAbility to learn and utilize the firm’s document management software to include Microsoft and NetDocsPerform general administrative duties such as managing attorney calendars and processing expense reportsAll other duties as assignedQualifications/Requirements:Undergraduate degree and/or ABA approved paralegal certificate preferredMinimum of five (5) years of probate litigation experience required Working knowledge of probate procedures, courts and relevant formsAbility to handle multiple tasks and to remain calm under pressureStrong desire to work in a team environmentProficient in state and federal court e-filingKeep abreast of probate court rules and procedures and understand legal terminologyPossess excellent written communication and proofreading skills with attention to detailAbility to function in a professional and polite manner when dealing with clients, co-workers, court personnel and othersHigh degree of self-directed initiative and individual judgmentAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretionAbility to balance multiple projects with strong time management skillsAbility to process routine daily functions while being able to resolve time-sensitive issues and complex assignments utilizing above-average critical thinking skillsMust be able to work overtime, as requiredProficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Adobe and PowerPoint) and NetDocsPhysical Demand: Lifting up to 15 pounds; kneeling, bending sometimes required. Typing/sitting at desk for long durations at a time. The salary wage range that we expect to pay for this position is from $80,000 - $105,000 and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of base salary at the time of posting. The actual salary offered may vary based on experience, qualifications or other relevant factors.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
