Sponsored Residential back-up support for DBHDS home

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Support staff member to provide essential coverage in our private residence regulated through the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS.) In this vital role, you will serve as a reliable support staff member to ensure continuous, high-quality care for an individual with autism. Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to one resident with intellectual and developmental disabilities (autism), including some assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs.)
• Support behavioral health needs by implementing behavior management plans and de-escalation techniques tailored to individual residents.
• Collect and document data related to resident progress, behaviors, medication administration, and other relevant metrics to support ongoing care planning.
• Support your resident in engaging with their community through outings or activities, ensuring safety and positive social interactions.
• Maintain a safe environment by adhering to all safety protocols, including medication administration procedures and emergency response plans.
• Collaborate closely with team members, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care delivery and consistent support for your resident.

Requirements

• Experience in home and/or community care settings supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is desirable. Medicaid waiver DSP (direct support person) is preferred but willing to train the right candidate.
• Prior experience working with individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, or cognitive disabilities is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of behavioral strategies is preferred...redirection techniques, de-escalation, ABA principles, etc...
• Flexibility to work varied shifts as needed (including overnights and some weekends)
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
• Demonstrated ability to collect accurate data and maintain detailed documentation related to resident care.
• Proven track-record of meeting deadlines for required documentation.
• Medication Aide Certificate (min. 32 hr or higher or RMA) is required. Training will be provided if not currently certified. Certification must be completed/obtained prior to providing client care.
• Valid driver’s license, DMV print-out, proof of insurance and reliable transportation for community outings or appointments.
• Background check is required.
• CPR/First Aid/AED (training can be provided and must be completed prior to providing client care.)
• Negative TB test results.
• TOVA (therapeutic options training)
• Participate in required trainings and refresher courses (including clinical and crisis intervention) both online and in person.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
