You Should Be Proficient In

- Construct, service, and optimize dies, fixtures, gauges, and production equipment.
- Program and operate CNC equipment; switch seamlessly to conventional machining when needed.
- Run vertical and horizontal mills, lathes, grinders, saws, drills, pedestal grinders, and belt sanders.
- Apply expert use of hand tools including drills, impact wrenches, Allen wrenches, regular wrenches, vises, screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, channel locks, chisels, transfer punches, taps, and tape measures.
- Measure precisely with micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, depth micrometers, telescoping gauges, hardness testers, and height gauges.
- Select and process materials—cold roll steel, tool steel, and hot roll steel—in proper thicknesses and gauges.
- Hold tight tolerances to within .0005 inches.
- Interpret blueprints, verify accuracy, and complete meticulous measurement layouts.
- Work with limited supervision, collaborate closely with teammates, and consistently follow company procedures.
- Support production needs with reliable attendance and overtime availability.
- Open communication in a team-first environment.
- Advanced troubleshooting of tooling to remove bottlenecks and improve reliability.
- Flexibility to take on other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree from a technical machine tool program (required).
- 5 years in a machining environment, including production-level experience (5 years).
- 3 years focused on tool and die fabrication and repair.
- Blueprint reading and verification; accurate measurement layouts.
- Equipment setup and operation across CNC and manual platforms.
- Proficiency building blanking, punching, and forming dies.
- Hydraulics and pneumatics proficiency.
- Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing fabrication and assembly, including multiple production assembly techniques.
- Crane rigging and forklift training.
- Applied math: fractions, geometry, and trigonometry with calculator use to determine values.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- GibbsCAM or an equivalent CAM platform.
