Our client, a well-established global manufacturer with a strong reputation for engineering innovation and advanced production technologies, is seeking an experienced Mechatronics Engineer to join its manufacturing team in Lawrenceburg, TN.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with a passion for automation, robotics, and continuous improvement to play a key role in enhancing manufacturing efficiency, implementing new technologies, and supporting advanced fabrication and assembly processes.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will lead and support automation initiatives across manufacturing operations, with a focus on robotic welding systems, press brake automation, laser automation, and smart manufacturing processes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on problem solving, troubleshooting complex systems, and driving operational improvements in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day manufacturing operations by troubleshooting and resolving automation and production issues.
• Interpret engineering drawings and provide technical guidance to production teams and operators.
• Design, refine, and optimise mechanical systems integrated with electronics, robotics, and software controls.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot PLCs, electrical systems, custom controllers, and automated equipment.
• Ensure the correct implementation of machine safety systems, including cobots, light curtains, area scanners, and safety PLCs.
• Investigate and implement automation solutions within existing manufacturing processes.
• Develop and improve automation for fabrication and assembly operations to increase productivity and reduce waste.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimisation.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations.
• Create and maintain work instructions, SOPs, maintenance documentation, and process guidelines.
• Participate in equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and new product introductions.
• Analyse production and automation data to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant health, safety, and quality standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within automation-focused operations.
• Hands-on experience with industrial robotics and welding automation, including systems such as Universal Robots (UR), KUKA, and Lincoln Electric platforms.
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs, electrical systems, and manufacturing automation equipment.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, process optimisation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Exposure to Amada equipment and VPSS4iE software would be advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving ability with a hands-on, solutions-focused approach.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
