VP of Software

The Role
As Vice President of Software, you’ll define and deliver the software architecture that powers the company's spacecraft, simulations, and mission systems. From autonomous flight code to AI-driven analytics, your work will form the digital backbone of how they achieve space superiority.
You’ll lead a multidisciplinary engineering team, guiding everything from embedded systems and DevSecOps to large-scale ground infrastructure and real-time visualization tools. Your mandate: build secure, scalable, and resilient software systems at the speed of conflict.
This role blends deep technical fluency with strategic leadership - shaping software that determines how our spacecraft maneuver, how operators train, and how decisions are made in contested environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full software portfolio: flight and autonomy systems, ground software, simulation tools, AI/ML applications, and DevSecOps infrastructure.
- Define and own the technical vision, architecture, and product roadmap for scalable, resilient, and certifiable systems.
- Build and develop a world-class software organization - recruiting, mentoring, and setting a culture of performance and accountability.
- Oversee the entire development lifecycle: CI/CD, validation, configuration management, and compliance with defense-grade standards (RMF, etc.).
- Partner closely with Hardware, Production, and Mission Operations to ensure integrated, rapid delivery.
- Manage budgets, vendors, and scaling strategies that keep teams agile and mission-ready.
- Balance near-term execution with long-term architectural innovation to maintain strategic advantage.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 15 years of experience in software/systems engineering, including 5 in executive leadership.
- Proven track record delivering mission-critical software in aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries.
- Proficiency across the stack - from C/C and real-time OS to cloud, DevOps, and full-stack platforms.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience deploying flight or autonomy software on space or aerospace platforms.
- Background in AI/ML operations, sensor fusion, or ground system architectures.
- Proven ability to scale software from prototype to full deployment across multiple products.
- Executive experience managing software across multiple programs or product lines.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $200,000 - $370,000
