The Company

Storm2's client is a funded Series-A FinTech built for franchise and independent brand operators. Card payments, flexible financing, and financial operations. Every dollar moving through a franchise business touches their platform.

Their biggest build for 2026 is an AI-powered accounting suite for the US franchise sector. The market spends $6 billion a year on accounting services that are largely manual, largely offshore, and consistently deliver stale data to operators who need portfolio visibility now, not weeks later. That's the gap they're closing.

The Role

Small, high-output engineering team. Greenfield architecture. Direct line to the CEO. A proprietary dataset spanning card transactions, lending data, and POS integrations that gives this platform advantages a standalone lender can't replicate.

The person who takes this role needs four things to be true about them:

• They've built accounting software before. Multi-entity bookkeeping, real-time reconciliation, chart of accounts, financial reporting across multiple locations. They know this domain, not just the engineering concepts around it.
• They've shipped AI and ML in production, specifically on financial data. Transaction categorization, document extraction, anomaly detection. They know when to fine-tune a model, when to prompt-engineer, and when to keep a human in the loop.
• They can lead and scale an engineering team. Taking a small, high-output group and building it into something larger without losing what made it good. Hiring well, setting standards, and creating a culture that ships financial products quickly without cutting corners on quality or security. This team is 5 engineers right now and will probably be 20 in ~12-18 months time.
• They care about the product. The customers are franchise operators running 5 to 50 locations who don't have time for complexity. Making real-time cash flows, P&L across locations, and lending status feel simple and instant matters as much as the architecture underneath it. So does being able to explain that architecture clearly to engineers, investors, operators, and lending partners.
