Job Description Storm Search is seeking a Human Resources Generalist for a well-established manufacturing organization in Minneapolis, MN. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys building relationships with employees and leadership and working in a hands-on manufacturing environment. The HR Generalist will support approximately 125 employees, including a union workforce, with a strong focus on employee relations, recruiting, attendance administration, performance management, HR compliance, and day-to-day HR operations.
This is not a desk-only HR role. The HR Generalist will spend approximately 50% or more of their time on the manufacturing floor, interacting directly with employees and managers. Key Responsibilities Serve as an HR resource and liaison for union employees, managers, and operations leadership Build relationships with employees and maintain a regular presence on the manufacturing floor Support employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, progressive discipline, investigations, and terminations Assist with union contract interpretation and administration Recruit for union production and other positions using staffing agencies and online recruiting resources Coordinate pre-employment requirements, new-hire paperwork, onboarding, and employee orientation Track employee attendance, absences, PTO, overtime, and related documentation Review timecards for accuracy and follow up with managers regarding discrepancies Assist managers with performance reviews, performance improvement plans, discipline, and employee training Maintain employee training records and training matrices Support workers' compensation matters and collaborate with safety personnel Answer employee questions regarding benefits, policies, attendance, and union contract provisions Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment and labor laws Provide additional HR and administrative support as needed Qualifications Previous Human Resources experience required Associate degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree 3 years of HR experience preferred for candidates without a degree Strong employee relations and interpersonal skills Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and spending significant time on the production floor Strong computer skills and HRIS experience Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive employee matters Reliable, approachable, and comfortable communicating with employees at all levels This opportunity is open to candidates currently residing in Minnesota.
