Summary: The Sales Analyst at SAM will play a critical role in supporting the financial and analysis activities for the business development department, including financial projections for potential properties to be under SAM’s management. This role involves detailed line-by-line projection comparisons, variance analysis using visual tools, and collaboration across departments to ensure accurate and actionable insights.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create projections for potential sales clients to support business development efforts.
- Conduct line-by-line comparisons of sales projections vs. actuals to identify discrepancies and trends.
- Create and maintain visual dashboards and charts to highlight key variances and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Finance teams to refine forecasting improve projection accuracy and create presentation slide decks.
- Provide data-driven insights to help the sales team make informed decisions and improve conversion rates.
- Analyze sales trends, lead performance, and pipeline data to identify opportunities and risks.
- Attend sales calls to provide analytical support and help communicate value to prospective clients.
- Analyze sales data to support strategic initiatives and identify growth opportunities.
- Analyze operational level data and build demand forecasting models.
- Utilize financial systems and software to perform analysis and generate reports.
- Monitor and track SAM’s competitor activity.
- Support ad-hoc analysis requests and contribute to cross-functional projects.
- Recommend improvements to reporting processes and tools to enhance efficiency and clarity.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across reporting platforms.
- Provide outstanding internal customer service and clear communication across teams.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in sales analysis, financial modeling and analysis or a related field is preferred. Comparable professional experience may be substituted for this level of education.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, charting).
- Experience with data visualization tools is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in groups.
- Highly organized with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of financial statements and basic accounting principles.
- Strong computer skills.
- SQL knowledge is preferred.
Language Skills: Must be fluent in speaking and writing the English language.
Work Hours: In a typical week, this position requires a minimum of 40 hours with regular and predictable attendance. Occasional weekend work may be required.
Work Environment: This work is usually performed indoors in an office environment with normal noise levels and no exposure to hazardous conditions. Employees in this position are required to reside in a state where SAM is registered to conduct business.
