What are the responsibilities and job description for the 80% Long-Term Substitute Speech/Language Pathologist position at Stony Brook Elementary School?
Provide speech and language services to elementary school students with a variety of communication disabilities
Conduct evaluation of students
Establish goals and write IEPs for students
Attend IEP meetings
Provide therapy
Consult with teachers, parents, caregivers and medical providers
Maintain records
Report progress
Attend and participate at Section 504 Meetings
Inventory management, equipment maintenance, data collection
Adherence to the Code of Ethics of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
Knowledge and skills in the areas of: articulation/phonology, fluency, voice/resonance, receptive and expressive language, literacy, social aspects (pragmatics), cognitive aspects, multiculturalism, augmentative/alternative communication, behavior, hearing, swallowing as they pertain to students in the public schools.
Familiarity with IDEA and SPED laws and regulations. Continuing education as per license requirements.
