What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Dietician Nutritionist position at Stony Brook Administrative Services?
Dynamic RD/RDN sought to pioneer nutrition program at large cardiology practice. Practice's goal is to establish multiple offerings for counseling including one on one instruction, small, and medium sized classes. Areas of focus to include promotion of weight loss, blood pressure control, lipid optimization, plant based diet, and overall wellness. Clientele to come from pre-existing, well established referral base.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide comprehensive and personalized nutrition care and medical nutrition therapy to a variety of patients.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers in the individual and/or group setting on all aspects of diet and lifestyle.
- Document clinical assessments and progress notes for each patient appointment in an electronic medical record.
- Communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary team on plans of care.
- Participate in community events, develop nutrition education materials, and compose articles for the NSC newsletter.
- Assist Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation program with nutrition education and cooking classes.
Qualifications:
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) board certified from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- Certified Dietitian Nutritionist (CDN) from the New York State Education Department.
- One (1) or more years of experience providing nutritional assessments and education (individual and group) within a clinical setting.
- Proficient use of electronic medical record and Microsoft tools including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree.
- One (1) or more years of experience providing nutritional assessments and education (individual and group) within a clinical setting.
Physical Demands: May spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment, and supplies. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring patients or objects may involve lifting of up to 50 pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend or twist their body, as well as visual acuity.
