UNIVERSAL WORKER JOB DESCRIPTION
Cleans and maintains facility areas to ensure the safety, health and well-being of residents, visitors and team members by providing a clean and safe environment.
Hours
Hours will be part time status (32 hours biweekly) including every other weekend, every other holiday.
Major Responsibilities, Duties, Functions, and Tasks of the Position
- Cleans and disinfects toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, floors, vents, wheel chairs, beds, furniture, hard and soft surfaces
- Dry and wet mops floors.
- Vacuum and spot clean carpets.
- Cleans vertical and horizontal surfaces.
- Collects and discards trash and infectious waste
- Cleans windows.
- Cleans and disinfects sinks and other plumbing fixtures.
- Replaces disposables such as paper towels, soap, toilet paper, etc.
- Dusts and cleans furniture, including beds and wheelchairs.
- Completes all cleaning and preparation of rooms when resident has been discharged, transferred or expired.
- Changes cubicle curtains and drapes.
- Washes walls.
- Moves furniture, beds, etc. to maintain clean areas.
- Assists in the dining room at meal times
- Immediately report resident related care concerns about treatment or abuse to the Department Supervisor as well as the Executive Director of the facility
- Interact with Team Members, Residents, and Guests in a courteous and professional manner
- Be accountable for all information in the Team Member Handbook
- Maintain confidentiality of resident, Team Member, family and facility information
- Understand and upholds Resident Rights
- Follow each Residents Plan of Care
- Follow oral and written instructions for all duties assigned and performed in an effective, timely and professional manner
- Complete assigned tasks in accordance with organization, facility, and department procedures
- Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Use supplies in an efficient and cost effective manner
- Ensure equipment is treated with proper care and is used only for the purposes and in accordance for which it was designed to be used for
- Follow facility reporting guidelines for any equipment that is not functioning properly or is need of repair
- Use Infection control practices, including Standard Precautions, to prevent the spread of diseases
- Maintain cleanliness of work area
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, as directed
- Complete all documentation per facility protocol and Standards of Practice
- Follow all IT protocols, including submission of Sysaids, for all technology related issues
- Answer call bells and assist as able
- Operate vehicles safely
- Obey all traffic laws
- Assist residents on and off the bus
- Assist with the removal of snow and ice, as directed
- To understand the laundry production flow and contribute to it’s success
- To launder linen, clothing and other items in accordance with facility policy
- To understand the proper and safe use of the laundry equipment
- To perform linen inventories, as directed
- To adhere to proper safety techniques when lifting, loading, transporting and handling linen and supplies
- To ensure laundry is separately properly by clean and soiled according to Department of Health regulations
- Follows HACCP procedures while performing prep work to include brewing coffee, plating salads/desserts and pouring of beverages. Serves food to residents at a multiple number of tables, using proper rules of etiquette ie: proper introduction, knowledge of menu, offering beverages/refills, checking back with resident for satisfaction, attentive to needs, answering questions regarding food preparation and communicating customer concerns to kitchen staff.
- Follows HACCP procedures while serving and replenishing from steam tables and/or tray line and breaks down areas/stations at the end of meal period, while covering, labeling and dating all food items prepared and to be stored
- Follows daily/weekly cleaning schedule
- Removes all garbage and solid waste from kitchen area, maintain kitchen waste cans/lids as clean and sanitary, and maintains dumpster area to ensure it is free from any debris.
- Delivers and retrieve tray carts to and from resident rooms/kitchen in a timely manner.
- Interacts with residents when delivering trays/serving food to table, assists with menu selection where applicable, communicates concerns/changes to supervisor
- Follows all policies and procedures while washing all dishware in dish machine, maintains dishwasher temperature log
- Follows all policies and procedures while washing cookware at three compartment sink, maintains sanitizer solution log
- Wash dishes as needed for dietary department
