Ministry Purpose:
Love God, Love Others, by upholding the ministry values of Stonebriar Community Church (SCC), cultivating intimacy with God, and leading others toward Christian maturity. This position is to ensure the flow of useful financial information to donors, ministries, and leadership, promoting confidence, efficiency, and informed decision-making. To review processes regularly in order to ensure adequate internal controls and integrity of financial reports and to supervise and coordinate the finance department staff.

To provide accurate financial information in a timely and useful manner in order to assist the leadership of Stonebriar Community Church toward effective decision making.

Ministry Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to:
Answer basic questions about the church’s faith, providing religious resources or praying with someone if requested.
Coordinate and communicate with supervisor regarding responsibilities to be managed on site or remotely.
Be available by cell phone outside regular office hours.
Maintain confidentiality.
Work with the ministries to compile the annual church budget.
Coordinate an annual financial audit.
Maintain the General Ledger with proper documentation to assure accuracy and compliance with established principles.
Maintain the computerized accounting system, backup control, and reporting functions.
Administer preparation of interim, year-end, and comparative financial reports, comparative analysis, and governmental reporting under the direction of the Executive Pastor.
Stay current with developments and practice trends in finance; monitor accounting processes and recommend new or revised policies and procedures.
Train and manage finance staff.
Oversee preparation of monthly bank reconciliations, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining the integrity of cash balances and cash flow systems.
Maintain current schedules of fixed assets and appropriate depreciation.
Analyze data to support effective decision making for church planning.
Review and approve time sheets and PTO requests for finance staff.
Support the finance team by helping to cover additional responsibilities during peak seasons or when team members are out.
Oversee the insurance policies and work with insurance companies to make sure the church is appropriately covered against emergencies.
Review any contracts related to construction.

Establish Stonebriar as a home church as soon as reasonable after joining the staff.
Competency
Five years’ experience in accounting and finance; church or non-profit accounting experience required.
A hard worker with initiative.
Relates well to the public.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training, certification & work experience.
CPA or MBA preferred.
Shelby Financial experience required.
