Purpose and Scope of Position
The Deli Lead plays a vital role in supporting the success of the Deli by working alongside team members to ensure exceptional customer service, high-quality food preparation, and a clean, welcoming environment. This position is designed to mentor, train, and assist Deli Associates, who are responsible for delivering excellent customer service, helping customers with product selection, preparing, and packaging deli items, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. In addition to mentoring, the Deli Lead actively participates in daily operations, including food preparation, customer service, and inventory support. They help maintain a positive team culture, encourage collaboration, and ensure that the department operates smoothly and efficiently.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead by Example: Work side-by-side with the team to prepare deli items, sandwiches, and baked goods, maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness, and efficiency.
- Mentorship & Training: Train new and existing team members on food preparation, safety procedures, and customer service best practices.
- Operational Support: Assist with daily setup, prep, and closing duties, ensuring all stations are clean, stocked, and compliant with health regulations.
- Customer Engagement: Provide exceptional service by greeting customers, answering questions, and ensuring satisfaction with every order.
- Product Knowledge: Stay informed about ingredients, recipes, and specials to help educate the team and customers.
- Team Collaboration: Foster a positive and inclusive team environment by encouraging open communication and teamwork.
- Inventory & Quality Checks: Monitor product freshness, assist with inventory rotation, and report any issues to management.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Must be 16 or older to work with chemicals and unusual shifts, high school diploma or GED preferred.
- 0-2 years’ experience, preferably in customer service or hospitality
