Law and Motion Seasoned Attorney for Post-Judgment Motion

Role Description This is a remote, contract role for a Law and Motion Seasoned Attorney focused on post-judgment motions. The attorney will draft, research, and argue post-judgment motions in civil and criminal matters, including motions for new trial, motions to vacate or amend judgments, enforcement or defense of judgments, and related procedural motions. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing case files and records, conducting in-depth legal research, preparing high-quality memoranda and briefs, coordinating with trial and appellate counsel, and advising clients and internal teams on post-judgment strategy and risk. The attorney will manage deadlines, ensure compliance with court rules and procedural requirements, and may appear remotely for hearings as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong law and motion practice experience, including drafting and arguing complex post-judgment motions in state and/or federal courts.
• Advanced legal research and writing skills, including proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis) and preparation of persuasive briefs and memoranda.
• Solid knowledge of civil and criminal procedure, appellate practice, and judgment enforcement or defense; experience with civil rights, employment, or government liability matters is beneficial.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and issue-spotting abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with partners, associates, staff, and clients in a remote environment.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple matters, and handle a remote, contract workload with minimal supervision.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in a relevant U.S. jurisdiction; California admission is preferred if practicing in California courts.
• Several years of experience as a litigation attorney with a focus on law and motion or post-trial/appellate work; prior experience representing public safety personnel or government entities is a plus.
