Marine Construction Installer (Temporary – Project-Based / Polk County)

Stokes Marine – New Construction Department
Project Location – Crystal Lake Boardwalk, Polk County FL


Position Summary

The Marine Construction Installer is a key member of the Stokes Marine New Construction team, responsible for building high-quality waterfront structures including docks, seawalls, boardwalks, and more. This position works within specialized crews (framing, seawall, and barge teams) to complete projects safely, efficiently, and to company standards.

This position is temporary and project-based, supporting construction of the Crystal Lake Boardwalk project located in Polk County, Florida.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist crew members in the construction and installation of docks, boardwalks, seawalls, and boatlifts from project start to completion
  • Perform framing, decking, concrete work, and related construction tasks
  • Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites
  • Operate and maintain power tools and construction equipment safely and effectively
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA standards to ensure a safe job site
  • Maintain clean and organized job sites and shop areas
  • Participate in shop work, material preparation, and equipment maintenance as needed
  • Communicate effectively with crew leaders and team members to ensure efficient workflow
  • Represent Stokes Marine professionally when interacting with customers and the public
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Work Schedule & Environment

  • Monday–Friday, starting at 7:00 AM
  • End time varies based on project needs
  • Optional weekend work available
  • Up to 20 hours of overtime available weekly (based on workload)
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain)
  • Physically demanding role requiring heavy lifting, bending, climbing, and working near, over, and in water


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Strong work ethic and positive team-oriented attitude
  • Leadership ability and willingness to take direction
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to swim
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks
  • Comfortability working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Experience with power tools required
  • Carpentry, concrete, hydraulic equipment, or marine construction experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record preferred
  • Must comply with Stokes Marine’s Drug-Free Workplace Program
  • All offers contingent upon successful background check and pre-employment drug screening
  • Willing to train motivated candidates with hands-on or mechanical aptitude


Compensation

$17 - $20 per hour, based on experience. Higher starting wages may be available for candidates with mid-to-high-level experience or relevant certifications (CDL, crane certifications, highly experienced carpenters, etc.)

Weekly hours currently average approximately 50 hours, with the opportunity for up to 60 hours per week based on project needs. Overtime is paid for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Employees are not required to clock out for lunch.

This is a temporary, project-based position tied to the Crystal Lake Boardwalk Project in Polk County, FL.


Current Hiring Status

Stokes Marine anticipates completing this project using its existing workforce and does not have immediate hiring needs. However, this position is being posted in support of Section 3 outreach requirements. Should Employment opportunities arise during the course of the project based on operational needs, qualified candidates will be considered.
