Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and skid steers.
- Perform land clearing, trenching, grading, backfilling, and utility support work.
- Use site plans, lasers, transits, or GPS systems for accurate grading and excavation.
- Conduct equipment inspections, pre-operation checks, and basic maintenance.
- Assist crews with laborer duties when not operating equipment.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA standards and company safety procedures.
- Mark pipe and fitting locations in underground trenches.
- Load, unload, and transport machinery to/from project sites.
- Report equipment issues and participate in daily safety briefings.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet project deadlines.
- Minimum 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction or underground utility work.
- Strong working knowledge of land development and utility installation.
- Ability to read and follow site plans and instructions.
- Strong communication, reliability, and teamwork skills.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
- Required: Valid Driver’s License, OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification.
- Preferred: CDL License, Rigging & Signaling, Confined Space Training, Excavation & Awareness certifications.
- Strength & Endurance: Lift and carry up to 75 lbs, climb on/off equipment, and work up to 12 hours outdoors.
- Dexterity & Control: Operate controls precisely in rough or confined terrain.
- Mobility: Bend, kneel, crouch, and maintain footing on uneven ground.
- Environmental Tolerance: Work in all weather conditions; tolerate noise, vibration, and dust.
- PPE Use: Wear safety gear including hard hats, vests, boots, gloves, glasses, and hearing protection.
