General Job Summary
Compliance Analyst supports the second line of defense by executing monitoring and testing activities across mortgage originations, servicing, and other consumer compliance areas. Analysts apply structured procedures and test scripts to assess adherence to regulatory requirements, investor guidelines, and internal controls. Depending on level (I, II, III), the Analyst may also assist in the development of new testing procedures, lead workstreams, or design test methodologies from time to time. The role operates with implied compliance authority to identify, document, and escalate findings in accordance with established protocols and contributes to the continuous improvement of the bank’s compliance management system. In addition, the Compliance Analyst will provide support for other activities throughout the Compliance Department as needed, ensuring flexible assistance in meeting departmental goals and responding to emerging priorities.
Organizational Duties And Responsibilities
Education: BS/BA in Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in banking, mortgage operations, or compliance preferred

- Support the Compliance Department’s role in maintaining adherence to applicable laws, regulations, investor guidelines, and internal controls
- Contribute to a culture of compliance by promoting awareness, consistency, and continuous improvement across business units
- Collaborate respectfully with peers and management to ensure timely and accurate execution of compliance testing and reporting activities
- Perform structured testing of mortgage originations and servicing activities using approved scripts with a high degree of accuracy, thoroughness, and independence in accordance with investor and regulatory requirements
- Execute prefunding and post-closing loan reviews for agency and portfolio products corresponding with investor expectations in recalculations of income, assets, credit, and collateral
- Validate re-verification documentation and ensure consistency with loan approval data
- Reconcile closing disclosures to fee tolerance thresholds and cure requirements
- Test servicing readiness including escrow setup, borrower communications, and transfer protocols
- Validate compliance with consumer protection laws including TRID, ECOA, HMDA, RESPA, FCRA, and UDAAP
- Apply defect taxonomy to findings, assigning severity ratings and root cause codes per playbook
- Document findings from assigned reviews in comprehensive written reports that describe the issue, its potential impact, and recommended corrective actions; follow up with management to determine the status of remediation
- Maintain detailed work papers with factual support, severity rationale, and linkage to applicable requirements
- Maintain evidence logs showing resolution or escalation of flagged items
- Track issues and exceptions in an issue log, escalating overdue items per protocol
- Document and submit QC reports with corrective actions and due dates, maintaining cycle time targets
- Support monthly reporting with metrics, trend analysis, and summaries for management review
- Coordinate with business units including Lending Operations, Retail Lending, and Servicing to obtain documentation and clarify findings
- Perform other compliance reviews and administrative tasks (e.g., administrative QC checks) as required
- Provide assistance to external auditors and bank examiners as needed
- Complete all required training to maintain awareness of regulatory changes and internal procedures
- Conduct special projects as assigned
- Other Functions: (25%)
- Maintain understanding of the bank’s products, services, geographic locations, relevant investor requirements, and the potential risks associated with those activities
- Assist with coordination of federal and/or state regulatory agency examiners during examinations
- Furnishing examiners and GSE investors with requested information
- Perform other duties, as assigned
