Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Commercial Carpentry & Maintenance Technician to join our facilities maintenance team. This role is vital in ensuring the integrity, safety, and functionality of our commercial and industrial properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance tasks to support operational efficiency and uphold safety standards. Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry tasks including framing, drywall installation, door and window repairs, and maintenance painting to maintain building interior aesthetics and structural integrity.
- Conduct electrical work such as troubleshooting electrical equipment, repairing electrical systems, reading schematics, and using tools like ohmmeters to ensure safe and reliable electrical operations.
- Maintain and repair HVAC systems, including diagnosing issues, replacing components, and performing routine system checks to ensure optimal climate control.
- Execute plumbing system maintenance and repairs, including leak detection, pipe repairs, fixture replacements, and ensuring compliance with plumbing codes.
- Operate hand tools and specialized equipment such as welders and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for various repair projects.
- Support facilities equipment maintenance by inspecting mechanical systems, performing preventive maintenance, and managing repairs using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Lead or assist with supervising team members during maintenance projects while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Collaborate with other departments to address customer service requests related to building interior maintenance or facilities issues.
- Assist with manufacturing or production-related maintenance tasks when required.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed using schematics and technical manuals for future reference.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial or industrial maintenance roles with a strong background in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, HVAC repair, welding, and mechanical knowledge.
- Familiarity with schematics, technical manuals, CMMS software, and troubleshooting tools such as ohmmeters.
- Knowledge of facilities equipment maintenance including HVAC systems, electrical panels, plumbing systems, and building interior components.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, electrical equipment repair, welding techniques, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Strong understanding of safety standards related to electrical work, plumbing, HVAC systems, and general facilities maintenance.
- Excellent communication skills in English for effective collaboration across teams.
- Supervising or leadership experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to interpret technical schematics and mechanical drawings accurately.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
