Job description
Essential Job Functions - Press Operators & Assistants
Safely operate machine and assume general responsibility and oversight for assigned jobs
- Narrow/wide web, water base/solvent inks, multiple substrates as applicable
- Monitor quality, production, and waste, adjusting to customer specifications/demands
- Ensure product meets the quality requirements set by your Supervisor/ Manager
- Perform printing jobs of 1-10 color surface and reverse print as needed
- Set up for cylinders, plates, sleeves and anilox rolls
- Provide direct oversight to Press Assistant on assigned machine on primary tasks
- Assign tasks each shift as needed
- Checking ink, shafting rolls, splicing, threading machine, cleaning work environment
- Shaft new rolls of paper on each shift
- Splice new rolls to existing web and thread machine when necessary
- Identify and react to production problems (safety, quality, shortage of raw materials, out of spec raw materials and inventory issues).
- Troubleshoot machine problems and determine which problems need to escalate to maintenance and/or supervisors
Bag Machine Operator:
- Safely set up and operate machine and support equipment to convert
- Read and verify line orders/dockets
- Monitor quality, production, and waste, adjusting to customer specifications/demands
- Ensure product meets the quality requirements set by your Supervisor/ Manager
- Set up the bag line by loading film and adjusting for size
- Mount cylinders, adjusts pressure, tensions and adjusts distribution of ink
- Identify and react to production problems (safety, quality, shortage of raw materials, out of spec raw materials and inventory issues).
- Troubleshoot machine problems and breakdowns and determine which problems need to escalate to maintenance and/or supervisors
- Complete daily production paperwork
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
Winder Operator
- Safely operate the winders performing a variety of tasks
- Rewinding, trimming and slitting rolls
- Fixing profile issues on finished goods
- Maintain a clean, organized, “set in order” and “shine” environment in the work areas
- Assist operators and assistants with tasks when production needs demand
- Open stock
- Cut cores
- Use forklift and clamp truck to move material throughout the plant
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent
Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably flexographic printing preferred
Mechanical aptitude and experience using basic tools including wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, utility knives, and measuring devices
Forklift and clamp truck experience preferred
Basic computer skills including email, data entry, operating within multiple systems
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on needs of the business including overtime hours
Job Types: Full-time, Temp-to-hire
Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
