What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Mechanical Technician position at STL Office Solutions?
We’re looking for an Engineering Assembly Technician who thrives on building complex equipment and wants to work directly with engineers to bring custom systems to life. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on machine building, troubleshooting, and seeing a system go from concept to a fully functioning piece of equipment.
About the Role
The Engineering Assembly Technician will work within the Engineering team to assemble, integrate, and support the build of custom automated equipment. You’ll partner closely with Project Engineers to execute system builds, support testing and debug, and ensure equipment performs as intended.
This is not a repetitive production role—this is a high-mix, custom machine build position where every project is different and requires problem-solving, adaptability, and close collaboration with engineering.
What You’ll Do
Custom Equipment Assembly
- Assemble mechanical systems, enclosures, motion components, and part-handling equipment from engineered drawings
- Fit, align, and install components including bearings, actuators, and precision assemblies
- Ensure all assemblies meet engineering intent and quality standards
System Integration
- Support pneumatic and hydraulic plumbing, routing, and testing
- Assist with basic electrical tasks including device mounting, wiring support, and I/O checkout
- Work alongside engineers during system bring-up and integration
Debug & Troubleshooting
- Identify and resolve mechanical and system-level issues during build and testing
- Collaborate with engineering to diagnose problems and implement solutions
- Provide feedback to improve future designs and build efficiency
Project Support
- Work on multiple custom systems at various stages of build
- Assist with system testing, validation, and final acceptance
- Support occasional installation or startup activities at customer sites (as needed)
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in:
- Machine building, automation assembly, or custom equipment
- Strong ability to read and interpret:
- Mechanical drawings and assembly prints
- Basic electrical schematics
- Experience with:
- Mechanical assembly (alignment, torque specs, precision fit-up)
- Pneumatics and/or hydraulics
- Hands-on troubleshooting mindset and strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work both independently and closely with engineers
Salary : $28 - $35
