Full-Time Position
Stewart Memorial is seeking a dynamic and experienced Laboratory Director to lead our laboratory team and oversee the delivery of high-quality laboratory services. This leadership role is responsible for directing, coordinating, and supervising all laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, maintaining quality patient care, and supporting the hospital's mission of serving our communities.
As the Laboratory Director, you will play a key role in strategic planning, staff development, quality improvement, budgeting, and operational excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include:
- Direct and oversee all laboratory operations and services
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, state, federal, and accreditation requirements
- Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory policies, procedures, and quality standards
- Manage departmental budgets, equipment purchases, and resource utilization
- Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and evaluate laboratory personnel
- Establish staffing plans and schedules to support patient care needs
- Monitor laboratory performance and implement process improvements
- Supervise laboratory testing, quality control, analyzer maintenance, billing, and reporting functions
- Maintain departmental records, reports, and regulatory documentation
- Collaborate with physicians, administration, and other departments to support patient care initiatives
- Participate in hospital committees, community education programs, and organizational projects
- Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, communication, and continuous improvement
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field
- Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) certification
- Minimum of four (4) years of laboratory experience
- Qualifications consistent with CLIA requirements for Technical Supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification
- Minimum of four (4) years of laboratory experience
- Previous management or supervisory experience preferred
- Qualifications consistent with CLIA requirements for General Supervisor
