FULL‑TIME OPENING

OR Nurse (RN)
Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM 
36-40; call 2-3 times a week & every 3rd weekend and rotating holidays
Location: Lake City, IA

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an OR Nurse, you will direct and support patient care activities in outpatient surgery, the operating room, and the recovery room. You will ensure safe, efficient, and compliant surgical services while providing high‑quality care across the lifespan—from neonatal to geriatric patients.

Other responsibilities include:

• Maintain departmental policies, procedures, safety standards, and compliance.
• Monitor surgical patients and report changes to appropriate personnel.
• Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and trauma or emergency care.
• Support patients and families during stressful or crisis situations.
• Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult as needed, and adjust care plans appropriately.
• Ensure adequate supplies and proper equipment functioning.
• Inspect work areas for compliance and take corrective action when needed.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Demonstrate proficiency in outpatient surgery, OR, and recovery room nursing skills.
• Competently care for patients of all ages, assessing and meeting age‑specific needs.
• Oversee maintenance of surgical facilities, equipment, and supplies to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Respond to Trauma Code calls.
• Participate in on‑call rotation per monthly schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Prior acute care nursing experience.
• Graduate of a state‑accredited school of nursing with a current Iowa RN license.
• ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification required.
• Must meet all background check requirements.

HARD SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Starting peripheral IVs
• Inserting urinary catheters
• Checking vital signs
• Initiating chest tubes
• Maintaining a patent airway

30-32hrs per week

Typical hours 6:30am to 3pm Monday/Tuesday/Thursday.  Remaining hours divided between Wednesday & Friday depending on weekly surgery schedule. 

Call: 1 day per week, every 3^rd weekend with ability to take PRN call as needed, 1 holiday a year
