Location: Rockwell City, Lake View, Gowrie, IA
Status: Non-Exempt
Required Experience: None
Required Education: Completion of an accredited Radiology program. National Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. (ARRT)
Position Summary: Performs routine radiograph procedures on clinic patients. Collects blood specimens from patients vital for the diagnosis and treatment of disease as appropriate for patient age to include neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric adult. Assists workflow and specimen tracking. Follows established standards and practices. Support physicians as requested.
Essential Function:
- Maintains established departmental procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, environmental and infection control standards, and hospital policies including compliance policies.
- Maintains patient documentation and that patient records are treated as confidential information.
- Adheres to the policies and procedures regarding HIPAA Guidelines.
- Prepares patients for scheduled procedures to assist in patient assessment.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy.
- Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
- Inspects area for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.
- Position patients and adjust equipment for taking x-rays following established procedures.
- Maintain examination rooms. Stock necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
- Instruct patients regarding procedures.
- Follow prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment
- Select length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis.
- Examine film for properties such as definition, magnification and distortion.
- Receives the physician request and collects blood specimens from patients, properly identifying the patients, and promptly drawing and correctly labeling the specimens.
- Uses developed scripts for specified patient interactions.
- Accurately performs venipunctures, heel sticks, and finger sticks, ensuring proper specimens for testing as well as ensuring patient safety. Ensures delivery of the specimens to the processing area as soon as possible to maintain specimen quality.
- Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and ensures adequate stock of supplies.
- Satisfactorily qualifies for the position through an Iowa Criminal History / Dependent Adult Abuse check within the limits of applicable laws.
