Our Sawmill Associates perform a variety of tasks and while previous mill experience is preferred, we will absolutely train the right hardworking person. The candidate will operate several pieces of equipment, including: Planer, Chop Saw, Chain Saw, Resaw/ Joint, and Forklift. Other skills/ activities used in the job will be moving logs and lumber components, load and unload the kiln, read and understand a tape measure, calculate board ft/ cubic inch,
Responsibilities
- Ability to lift up tp 100 lbs periodically
- Stand for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours per shift
- Be able to properly cut logs, lumber, components, and associated grading
- Grade, sort and stack material according to specifications (A, B, C, etc)
- Strong attention to detail to ensure inventory accuracy
- Manufacturers green lumber from logs, including drying and cutting

- Self-starter and ability manage time effectively
- Consistently able to bend, crouch, stoop, climb, twist, and repetitive motion of hands.

The mask mandate has expired in the City of Athens, but employees are encouraged to continue wearing a mask if they prefer. Should the mandate go back into effect, we will comply with local and state recommendations.
