Role Description The Child Care Lead Teacher is a full-time, on-site role located in Stevens Point, WI, responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children. This role plans and implements age-appropriate lessons and activities that support social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. The Lead Teacher guides daily classroom routines, supervises children at all times, and ensures compliance with YMCA and state licensing standards. The position collaborates with team members, supports and mentors assistant staff, and communicates regularly with families about child progress and classroom activities. The Lead Teacher also participates in staff meetings, ongoing training, and program improvement efforts to maintain high-quality child care.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in early childhood Education with knowledge of child development principles and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability in Lesson Planning and curriculum implementation to create structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities.
- Effective Teaching and classroom management skills, including the ability to lead groups, guide behavior positively, and adapt to diverse learning needs.
- Excellent Communication skills for interacting with children, families, and colleagues in a clear, respectful, and professional manner.
- Experience in staff Training, mentoring, or coaching to support and develop classroom team members.
- Prior experience in child care, preschool, or early childhood education settings preferred.
- Relevant certifications (such as early childhood credentials, CPR/First Aid) or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Ability to meet state licensing and YMCA requirements, including background checks and health/safety standards.
