Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant to join our greyhound kennel staff. This role involves providing exceptional care and support for greyhounds, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and assisting with daily kennel operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care, strong attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills. Prior experience in veterinary or pet handling settings is preferred, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Feed, water, and monitor animals’ health and behavior throughout the day
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and common areas to ensure a sanitary environment
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations or treatments
- Provide gentle handling and care for animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Support kennel staff with basic procedures and animal management tasks
- Perform heavy lifting when necessary to move supplies or animals safely
- Ensure the safety of both animals and staff by adhering to proper handling protocols
Experience
- Dog training or dog handling experience is helpful but not mandatory.
- Kennel experience or animal care background preferred but not mandator.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Previous work in animal handling, animal restraint, or veterinary settings is beneficial
