What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Social Work Assistant position at Steuben County?
Steuben County, New York is currently recruiting candidates for the two provisional positions of PRINCIPAL SOCIAL WORK ASSISTANT This position is located at the Steuben County Community Services.
his work involves provision of an advanced level of case management services to the clientele served by all constituent entities of the Department of Community Services. The targeted population focuses on those with serious and persistent mental illness. Duties though similar to those of a Senior Social Work Assistant, are broader in scale, are performed with more independence and involve a greater variety of related functions. The work is carried out in accordance with well-established protocols for the delivery of case management services, including cooperating with therapeutic staff on development of client treatment/service plans; delivering principal case management services as directed by and in accordance with said treatment/service plans; maintaining intensive client contact, monitoring client needs and treatment issues; ensuring positive service linkages; providing various services to overcome treatment, services, economic or social barriers encountered by the consumer. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-ranking professional employee, with leeway given for exercise of independent judgement. Incumbent must have access to transportation to meet the field work requirements in the ordinary course of business in a timely and efficient manner. Does related work as required.
MUST BE SUCCESSFUL IN A CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION AT A LATER DATE.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Either: (a) Graduation from a regionally-accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Masters Degree in Human Services or a closely related field and two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a provider of direct patient services in a licensed or accredited work setting providing mental hygiene, day treatment, case management or chemical dependency treatment services; or (b) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelors Degree in Human Services or a closely related field and three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a provider of direct patient services in a licensed or accredited work setting providing mental hygiene, day treatment, case management or chemical dependency treatment services. (c) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a), and (b) above. Special Requirement: Possession of a valid NYS Drivers license.
