Job Overview
Seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician for a 13-week contract assignment at a 25-bed critical access hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated technician who is comfortable working independently in an acute care setting.
Assignment Details
- Job Title: Pharmacy Technician – Travel/Contract
- Job Location: San Andreas, CA 95249
- Start Date: January 20, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Days
- Sunday: 8-hour shift (typically 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM)
- Monday–Wednesday: 10-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 38 hours/week
- Weekend Requirement: Sundays required
- Holiday Requirement: Possible, as needed
- On-Call: No (evening call may be required)
Job Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician will:
- Prepare, package, label, and unit-dose medications
- Restock and reorder medications and pharmacy supplies
- Deliver and retrieve medications from patient care areas
- Prepare compounded non-hazardous sterile IV medications using proper aseptic technique
- Perform daily and weekly cleanroom and IV hood cleaning (hazardous & non-hazardous)
- Restock emergency medication trays and boxes
- Monitor medication inventory, expiration dates, and storage conditions
- Complete quality control and documentation requirements
- Respond to phone and message requests from hospital departments
Areas Covered
Technicians support medication services for:
- Emergency Department
- ICU
- Med-Surg
- Surgery
- Radiology
- Infusion Center (including chemotherapy)
No L&D, NICU, or PICU at this facility.
Required Qualifications
- Active California Pharmacy Technician License (required – no exceptions)
- BLS Certification
- Minimum 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience
- Must be able to prepare IVs
- Experience with Omnicell (preferred)
- Experience with sterile compounding, automation, and unit dose packaging
- Ability to work independently after training/orientation
