Assistant Project Manager

Our company values good management and strategic direction. We are currently looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our team in the Richmond area, where our project backlog is growing consistently. We focus on developing our project managers internally rather than hiring externally.
About the Role
As an Assistant Project Manager, you will work closely with a Senior Project Manager on active heavy civil and highway projects. You will be given significant responsibilities from the start, actively managing submittals, RFIs, procurement, subcontractor coordination, cost tracking, and more. As you demonstrate your capabilities, you will take on additional tasks such as owner and inspector interaction, schedule updates, and change management, with the opportunity to lead your own projects in the future.
What You'll Do
- Drive submittals, RFIs, and procurement schedules
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers
- Track quantities, production, and costs
- Support monthly payment requisitions and project documentation
- Participate in project team meetings
- Promote a safety culture on the project site
What You Bring
- 3–10 years of experience in heavy civil, highway, or utility projects
- Knowledge of construction scheduling and cost tracking
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Valid driver's license and willingness to relocate to Richmond
