Assistant Facility Engineer

Role: 1st Shift Assistant Facility Engineer

Location: Denison, Iowa

Salary: $115K – 140K plus bonus

Overview of the Assistant Facility Engineer Role: As the Assistant Facility Engineer, under the guidance of the Facility Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing maintenance and engineering operations to uphold the building and equipment's optimal condition. Your focus will be on minimizing mechanical downtime and enhancing production efficiency.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Facility Engineer:

• Lead capital project development and management after approval, ensuring timely and budget-friendly completion with minimal disruptions to plant activities.
• Collaborate with the Facility Engineer to oversee project scheduling and execution while ensuring compliance with safety, food safety, and environmental standards.
• Drive the Maintenance Department to implement advanced systems aligned with High-Performing Manufacturing Organizations, such as Preventive/Predictive Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
• Optimize resource scheduling to maximize productivity, reduce costs, and enhance plant capacity, ultimately reducing downtime and improving efficiency.
• Supervise the maintenance team by assigning tasks, enforcing policies, and ensuring clear work distribution.
• Champion plant safety through training, procedure implementation, and continuous monitoring to uphold safety standards.
• Collaborate with the Facility Engineer to establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for maintenance performance tracking and reporting.
• Promote a positive employee experience through leadership, emphasizing employee development and coaching.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited institution, with at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role involving team development and management.
• Essential experience with PLC and ammonia refrigeration.
• Background in food manufacturing required, with meat or harvest floor experience as a bonus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS systems is necessary.
• Advanced technical skills in mechanical and/or electrical fields (e.g., PLCs, instrumentation) essential.
• Ability to lead resource planning in a large manufacturing setting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, and preventive/predictive maintenance methodologies.
• Competent in using exposure monitoring equipment and interpreting results effectively.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong interpersonal, technical, and presentation skills are vital.
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends if needed.
