Sterling Search Partners is helping a growing client with its search for a SR Systems Administrator. Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented System Administrator to support and evolve enterprise IT infrastructure across IT and OT environments. This role will lead the design, implementation, and management of on-premises, hosted, and cloud systems, ensuring secure, reliable operations across a geographically distributed footprint. The ideal candidate is adaptable, technically strong, and experienced in fast-paced, evolving environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure including servers, virtualization, identity, and cloud platforms
- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues, driving troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and hybrid identity services
- Administer Microsoft Azure (VMs, networking, storage, identity, and security)
- Support Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune)
- Implement and maintain endpoint management and security policies via Intune
- Support SSO and identity federation (SAML and third-party integrations)
- Manage virtualization environments (primarily Hyper-V), backup, and disaster recovery systems
- Partner with network and cybersecurity teams to maintain secure, compliant environments
- Lead infrastructure projects, upgrades, migrations, and M&A system integrations
- Maintain system hardening, patching, monitoring, and compliance standards
- Support OT infrastructure in collaboration with engineering and operations teams
- Develop technical documentation, runbooks, and disaster recovery plans
- Provide on-call support and mentor junior IT staff
Qualifications
- 4-8 years of experience in system administration
- Strong expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, and core infrastructure services
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Intune, etc.)
- Experience with virtualization platforms (Hyper-V preferred)
- Knowledge of SSO, identity federation, and security best practices
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
Preferred
- Experience in power generation or industrial environments
- Exposure to OT/ICS/SCADA systems
- Experience in M&A integrations and distributed infrastructure
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards
- Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, Azure CLI)
- Relevant certifications (Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows Server)
