The team is relocating to a brand-new facility in Bartlett with new equipment, creating strong long-term growth opportunities. With upcoming retirements and internal mobility, this role offers clear advancement potential for a hands-on leader who enjoys building teams and helping operations get up and running during times of change.Position Summary: The Shift Supervisor is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing daily film extrusion operations on an assigned shift. This role supervises a small team of operators and a maintenance technician while actively running extrusion lines as needed. The Supervisor is accountable for meeting shift-level safety, quality, productivity, and operational goals while ensuring smooth handoffs between shifts and continuous production.Key Responsibilities:Supervise and coordinate shift operations for film extrusion lines, including extruders, chill rolls, haul-offs, and windersOperate extrusion equipment as needed and provide training and guidance to operatorsLead and organize line changeovers and ensure adherence to production schedulesMonitor quality, safety, and output metrics to meet or exceed targetsTroubleshoot process and equipment issues to minimize downtimeSupport new product trials and process validation activitiesEnforce company policies, OSHA regulations, and EHS standardsMaintain accurate shift reports and production records in ERP/CMMS systemsCollaborate with maintenance, engineering, and quality teams on continuous improvement initiativesLead, coach, and evaluate employees; assist with hiring and team developmentComplete performance reviews and address disciplinary matters as neededEnsure strong 5S practices and safe work habits at all timesQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent10 years of experience in plastic film extrusionMinimum of 2 years in a lead or supervisory roleStrong hands-on knowledge of extrusion operations and troubleshootingProven leadership skills including coaching, problem-solving, and delegationAbility to read and interpret safety rules, SOPs, technical drawings, and production schedulesBasic math skills and proficiency with Microsoft OfficeFamiliarity with ERP/CMMS systems (Epicor, Maximo, or similar)Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvementAbility to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.Fluent in English (spoken and written)Preferred:Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in plastics, extrusion, or mechanical/electrical fieldsStrong mechanical aptitudeCompany DescriptionSterling has helped build careers for thousands for professionals like yourself.
